Love AllIt all boils down to love. Love from a savior. Love to a neighbor in need. By spending just a little less on gifts we free up our resources to love as Jesus loves by giving to those who really need help. This is the conspiracy three churches began a few years ago, and has since grown to an international movement where thousands of churches have raised millions of dollars to love others in life-changing ways. It’s not that there’s something wrong with the shopping mall—it’s that the better story is about loving all.

Loving allWhile the Advent Conspiracy movement suggests a couple of charities that the founding communities have chosen to support, it leaves the decision of who you may support to you. How are you as an individual or family called to Love All this year?

Reflection Questions
Discuss these with family, friends, and/or in your parish community. The questions were written for children & families, but generally work for all.
Love All1. When you hear someone talking about making a difference in the world, what do you think about? Do you think you can make a difference? Even right now?
2. What did you think when you saw the story of the village chief react to hearing the good news? Have you ever met someone who felt the same way? 3. How do you think people view Christians? Engaging the wordLuke 2:1-24
1. When you read the Christmas story in the Bible, you see that Jesus was born really poor. In fact, he had nothing! Imagine for a minute that you are as poor as Jesus was and read the Christmas story for the first time. How would it make you feel? Luke 4:16-21 2. Do you think being poor is just about what stuff you have or how much money you have? Think about this – what if the richest man in the world had NO friends! Would he be poor? In a way, yes! It’s that way with all of us. In some areas, we are all poor. If you never knew about Jesus, how would you be poor? Matthew 5:34-40 3. Do you think your actions and choices can be a gift to Jesus? If you stick up for someone who is getting bullied, or are kind to someone who is sad, are those gifts to Jesus? How? If your actions are a gift to Jesus, does that make you want to helps others more or less? |
